On
Friday, March 15, 2009 several of Midwest students bravely sat down in front of
a large crowd to have their heads shaved to donate money for St. Baldrick’s
which is an organization that raises money to support cancer research for
children. Elementary
students Davis, Colin, Michael, Aidan, and Dane graciously gave up their hair
to honor their fellow classmate, Nathan who has been undergoing treatment for
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Not
everyone was able to shave, but the students of Midwest were able to donate
$360 from our donation “jar” which is filled with donations of pennies to
dollars on a weekly basis at our Friday Praise and Worship. We were all very excited to share this gift
of money with Nathan and his family to help find a cure for Nathan’s leukemia.
We
are all called to help one another whenever we can. Our students faithfully bring their change to
help others all around the world. May
this small gift for St. Baldrick’s be blessed richly to help Nathan and many
other children fighting cancer.
